2007, An Awesome Year in West Texas
The Turk Ranch has received an unbelievable amount of rain in 2007. Including the wonderful wet 3" to 4" snow we received in January, we have received 23 8/10 inches of rain this year.
Much of this rain has fallen in slow soaking type rain with the canyons and creeks only flowing 3 times. What a change in the amount of ground cover on the ranch this summer compared
to 2005 and 2006. God has really sent us wonderful blessings this year and we are so thankful. The deer herd really responded with great antler production and body condition.
The fawn crop this year was down in total numbers because of the stress the does went through during the drought of 2006. Click on the "Latest Deer Pics" link on the home page of website to view trail cam and other pictures taken.
For 2008, we will still be offering Season Hunting Leases, Management Hunts, 1-Day Javelina or Predator Hunts, and the 3-Day Spring Turkey Hunts in addition to the camping,
birding, hiking, mountain biking, and photography offered throughout
the year. Exciting news for our whitetail deer season leasees, we have decided to move up to Level 3 of the MLDP management plan. This will allow us to begin harvesting all bucks with rifles or bows at the beginning of the bow season.
